New Husky Updates Banner

MARCH 20, 2024

We hope this finds you and your family doing well. Our community’s enthusiasm about your transition to Flint Hill for the 2024-25 school year continues to build! You will receive New Husky Updates from us biweekly in preparation for this exciting transition. Welcome to the first one!

BRIEF SURVEY

We value your feedback, and we’d like to ask a favor. We request that you complete this very brief anonymous survey (if you haven’t yet) about your experience so far, including the moment you knew you’d be enrolling at Flint Hill.

Resources in Husky Hub

You can access our Parent Toolkit on the Resource Board in Husky Hub. After signing in, click “Resources” to see the Parent Toolkit. The Parent Toolkit includes information we shared with our current families for the 2023-24 school year.

On April 29, the Parent Toolkit tile will be updated to a “Preparing for the 2024-25 School Year” tile. This resource provides checklists for each division containing important information for our parents and students for the upcoming school year. We will also provide information for completing required student forms such as health, bus service, after-care, pick-up authorization, and more.

While in Husky Hub, you can also click on “Child’s Name” or “Children” to access information about your students; click on “Calendar” to access the School’s Calendar, or click on “Directories” to access the School’s Online Directory.

New Parent Information Night

We look forward to seeing you at our New Parent Information Night on Wednesday, May 1, at 6:30 p.m. at Peterson Middle School. The conversations with administrators and parents about what to expect next year will be a great way to connect with the Flint Hill community and prepare for the transition. If you haven’t already, please register now!

New Husky Welcome Events

At these events in the second week of June, new families will connect by grade level over a game of mini-golf and treats. Save the dates now and registration will be shared in the coming weeks.

  • Lower School, Tuesday, May 21, 4:00 p.m.
  • Middle School, Wednesday, May 22, 4:30 p.m.
  • Upper School, Thursday, May 23, 6:00 p.m.

Course Placement and Registration

Course registration looks a little different for each division. Information about this was included in the welcome email you received after submitting your enrollment contract. A quick summary for each division is below.

  • Lower School: Grades 5-6 Math Placement and Course Schedules: Course schedules for incoming 5th and 6th grade students are created by the Lower School Office. Transcripts, the math placement survey, and teacher recommendations help us recommend the appropriate course selection for your child. The math placement survey is on Wednesday, April 10, from 8:00 to 9:00 a.m. You will receive additional information soon. In mid-June, the Lower School will send information to new families about 5th and 6th grade math placement as well as the music selection process and placement. There is no course registration for junior kindergarten through 4th grade.
  • Middle School: On Monday, April 15, you will receive course selection information and an at-home math assessment to help with placement discussions.
  • Upper School: Families are encouraged to join Assistant Director of the Upper School and Academic Dean Debbie Ayers for a Virtual Q&A session on Course Selection on Tuesday, April 10, at 12:00 p.m. Placement surveys are held on our Upper School Campus on April 13 at 8:00 a.m. Please submit this form to register for either/both of these opportunities.
If you cannot attend the April 13 placement survey and the instances in the form apply to you, please contact Maha Morse to schedule an alternative date. These alternative dates are scheduled during school hours between 8:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. Incoming student course registration opens on Wednesday, April 24, and a communication is sent to families at 10:00 a.m. The deadline is Wednesday, May 3.
